Job Summary
The Instructional Designer IV, under general supervision, leads and oversees the development and support for the classroom, hybrid or online courses. Leads and manages the development of training for faculty and/or staff in areas of instructional design, andragogy, and best practices. Manages and leads project work. May be responsible for training, assisting or assigning tasks to others.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leads the collaboration with instructors and subject matter experts (SMEs) to design and develop online, blended, and web-enhanced courses.
Consults and leads faculty and/or staff with complex instructional design.
Manages course design and development projects. Leads administration and maintenance of online development courses/resources.
Oversees and manages the planning and coordinating materials with course instructor, instructional design team, and multimedia team.
Leads faculty and /or staff through the design process and makes key recommendations for design.
Provides project leadership for large projects by establishing goals and monitoring progress to ensure successful completion.
Researches, reviews, and recommends software, multimedia applications, and web- based educational technologies.
Identifies, recommends, and implements the use of instructional strategies, technologies, and applications.
Monitors the research and review of emerging instructional design innovations and trends.
Leads design of online modules. Leads and manages the course review process.
Plans, develops, and provides guidance for faculty and/or staff on instructional strategies and course design.
Leads usability studies and reviews reports.
Coaches instructional design teammates to enhance their on-the-job learning of processes and practices related to program design, course development, course quality, accessibility, copyright and fair use, and learning technologies.
May be responsible for training, supervising, assisting or assigning tasks to others.

Additional Responsibilities
Leads on the coordination of effective support and processes in the use of the university adopted LMS including proactive ongoing evaluation of LMS related processes to identify areas of needs.
Leads the coordination of special projects and initiatives related to the LMS and performs assessment of effective 3rd party educational technology integrations in the LMS.
Collaborates with IT Security team members to produce VPATs and security questionnaire for contract renewals on an annual basis.
Minimum Requirements
Education – Bachelor's degree.
Experience – Five years of related experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Education and Experience
Master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a closely related field.
Certification as a peer reviewer and/or facilitator in Quality Matters and other standards of quality for online courses as adopted by the university.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of:
Word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Online course design principles and practices.
Learning Management Systems, instructional technologies, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications in teaching and learning.
Emerging trends in educational technology, online pedagogy, and AI-enhanced instructional strategies.
Ability to:
Present information clearly and concisely.
Evaluate and recommend appropriate instructional technologies and AI tools to support student learning and faculty instruction.
License/Professional Certification
Relevant certifications in Quality Matters, instructional design, educational technology, or Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications in education are preferred.

Salary: $58,510.44/annually
